NHL and PENN, Top Integrated Entertainment Supplier in North America, Have Partnered
The National Hockey League (NHL), the North American professional ice hockey league, and PENN Entertainment have reached an agreement for ESPN Bet and theScore Bet to serve as the league’s official sports betting partners. ESPN Bet, which has an extensive NHL market and became one of the top bookmakers for this competition in a short time, became an NHL partner in the US as a result of the agreement. Additionally, PENN consented to theScore Bet collaborating with the NHL in Ontario, Canada.
PENN stated that the agreement takes effect right away. The 2024 NHL Winter Classic, 2024 NHL Stadium Series, 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend, and Stanley Cup Playoffs are all covered. Numerous benefits will be available to ESPN Bet and theScore Bet as a result of the deal. These consist of intellectual property rights, as well as media and marketing integrations throughout premium NHL experiences and NHL content. The cooperation also includes cooperation on game integrity protocols.
Significant Cooperation for Rookie ESPN Bet
One of the most recent brands to debut in the US is ESPN Bet, which is a result of PENN’s collaboration with Disney-owned ESPN. It went online on November 14 in 17 states. It’s essentially a rebranding of Barstool Sportsbook, an established sports betting app. PENN stated in August that it paid $1 to return Barstool Sportsbook to its creator, Dave Portnoy.
According to Jason Jazayeri, vice-president of business development for the NHL, the league is among the first to have partnered with ESPN Bet and PENN. The collaboration puts more fuel on the already blazing ESPN Bet fire. The first wave of integrations aimed at an estimated 200 million people was announced at the brand’s introduction. The SportsCenter anchors Elle Duncan and Scott van Pelt spearheaded an advertising effort for the debut of ESPN Bet.
ESPN boasts over 105 million unique digital visits each month, making it the leading sports media brand in the United States. With 370 million fans on social media and 25 million paying subscribers to its ESPN+ streaming service, it also enjoys a significant following.
A set of content restrictions for ESPN Bet has also been prepared by ESPN and PENN. These will be relevant to social media marketing. This effectively puts a stop to ESPN’s previous collaborations with companies like DraftKings and Caesars as it becomes the sportsbook’s exclusive partner. Both companies were previously mentioned as possible partners for the broadcaster’s sportsbook.
