The imposing striker from Norway, Erling Haaland, broke the long-standing record held by the Premier League legend Alan Shearer to become the fastest player to attain 100 goal involvements in the Premier League.

With 84 goals and 16 assists, the 24-year-old achieved the remarkable milestone in just 94 games—six games quicker than Shearer’s previous record. Shearer said for the BBC that he was unaware that he had previously held the league’s goals involvement record, but he did acknowledge that Haaland’s accomplishment was truly remarkable.

Haaland Is Only Bright Spot for Manchester City in Their Disappointing Season

So far, Haaland’s Manchester City has had a very dismal season. The four-time titleholders are currently in sixth place after struggling to establish form during the campaign.

However, despite City’s difficulties, its top striker has managed to maintain an impressive goal-scoring record. The Norwegian forward has scored 21 goals and provided three assists for his colleagues in just 28 Premier League outings.

Haaland broke the previous single-season record of 34 goals, shared by Shearer and Andy Cole in his debut season with “The Citizens” with 36 goals. The following season, in just 48 games, he became the fastest player to reach 50 goals.

The draw with Brighton on Saturday, even though they were the heavy favorites to win the match by the odds of the best Premier League sportsbooks online, was yet another setback for Manchester City’s hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League the following season. Haaland’s penalty kick put Pep Guardiola’s team ahead early, but Brighton’s Pervis Estupiñán’s accurate free kick quickly pulled them back. Near the conclusion of the first half, Manchester City’s January acquisition Omar Marmoush gave them the lead again, but just after the interval, Abdukodir Khusanov, another recent addition, equalized the score with an own goal.

The FA Cup is Manchester City’s final genuine chance to win a trophy this season; therefore, the team will be looking to get back to their best immediately when they play Bournemouth.
