Record-Breaking Prize Money for International Club Football Set: FIFA Approves US$1 Billion for CWC This Year

Publication date:

FIFA, football’s governing body on a global level, said that the 32-team men’s football Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, will have a $1 billion prize fund. There has never been an international football club competition with such a reward fund before.

One billion US dollars will be given to participating clubs at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which the governing body for international football described as a “new benchmark for global club football”.

The FIFA Council meeting focused on FIFA’s strong financial foundation for global football development has unanimously approved the Annual Report 2024, which included the updated budget revenue target of US$13 billion for the 2023–2026 cycle, of which nearly 90% will be reinvested in the game to greatly accelerate global football development.

The updated budget includes US$2 billion in revenue from the highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Apart from the fact that participating clubs will receive US$1 billion, there will be funds set aside for a solidarity mechanism devoted to club football worldwide.

FIFA stated that it won’t retain any of the money made from the event and that all proceeds would be given to the participating clubs and club solidarity worldwide.

Messi and his Inter Miami Will Open Tournament

The competition, which will take place in 12 stadiums around the United States and include elite teams from across the globe, will act as a practice run for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the United States, Mexico, and Canada will co-host.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami are some of the top teams in the tournament. The top four South American teams, Flamengo, Palmeiras, River Plate, and Fluminense, are also included.

Real Madrid, the most successful team in FIFA Club World Cup history with five trophies, is expected to take home their sixth championship under the competition’s new structure. That’s at least clear if we look at the odds for outright betting on the best betting sites for the World Cup.

On June 14, Messi and Miami will play Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium to begin the competition.
