ESL’s Flagship Counter-Strike League Heads to Saudi Arabia for First Time

Saudi Arabia will host ESL Pro League Season 25 in 2027, marking another major step in the country’s rapidly growing influence over global eSports.

Prize Pool Increase and Tournament Details Revealed

Tournament organizer ESL FACEIT Group confirmed that the prestigious Counter-Strike 2 competition will take place from March 6–14, 2027, with a total prize pool of $1.25 million. The announcement marks the first time the ESL Pro League will be staged in Saudi Arabia, after years of events held primarily across Europe, Brazil, and North America.

According to tournament organizers, the event will feature 16 teams competing in a Swiss-format group stage before moving into a single-elimination playoff bracket. The grand final will be played as a best-of-five series, while the overall prize pool has been increased by $250,000 compared to the previous season.

Saudi-Backed Acquisition of ESL FACEIT Group Further Backed

Most of the additional funding will reportedly go toward club-share payments rather than direct player winnings, continuing the recent esports trend of financially supporting partnered organizations alongside competitors. Invitations to the event will be determined through Valve Regional Standings rankings and ESL Challenger League qualification paths.
