Where and When Will the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15 Be Held?

The 15th edition of the CCT Season 2 European Series, counting only CS2, is just around the corner. There were events for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) prior to this, as the Champion of Champions Tour (CCT), whose part CCT European Series is, was launched in 2022 in the form of an international tournament circuit spanning several regions worldwide.

The CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15 is scheduled to start on December 3 and end on December 15, and is entirely an online tournament. The previous tournament, Series #14 (September through October this year) for the European region, was the most-watched CCT event ever regarding how many hours were spent following the action via streams. Esports Charts pulled out data saying that this event had 566,154 hours watched, which was an improvement of more than 10k hours watched compared with Series #13.

The teams that will compete at the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15 will do so for the money and bragging rights, as there are no points awarded for any kind of ranking. The prize pool is $50,000, and this is how it will be distributed:

  • The winners: $22,000
  • The vice-champions: $10,000
  • 3rd and 4th: $5,000
  • 5th-8th: $2,000

Which Teams Will Take Part in the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15?

The number of teams that will compete at the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15 is 24. Four teams earned their places in the event through the Play-In Stage, which was held on November 11-16. These teams are DMS, Aurora Young Blud, FLuffy Gangsters, and Fire Flux Esports. The names of other participants are yet to be determined.

The event consists of two separate stages: Group Stage and Playoffs. The only option to watch either of them is via online stream.

The Group Stage will feature 16 teams that will go against one another based on a Swiss system format and throughout a best-of-three (Bo3) series. For those who aren’t familiar, the Swiss format is a non-eliminating tournament format that has a set number of rounds of competition (five rounds in this case, which is typical for a tournament with 16 participants), but significantly fewer than a round-robin tournament; as a result, each competitor doesn’t play every other competitor. The best eight teams from the Group Stage will move on to the Playoffs, where they’ll be involved in single-elimination matches, which will also be Bo3.

Features of the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15

The history of CCT Series isn’t long. CCT went on for its second season (the first was held in 2022 and 2023), with the potential to become one of the biggest CS2 circuits in the world. For now, it gathers B-Tier teams from the competitive Counter-Strike. In contrast to minor or major championships, B-Tier tournaments include both LAN and online events. They typically, but not necessarily, take place in several regions/zones and unite two-tier teams that make up A-Tier tournaments, such as PGL Major, that belong to the second-best CS2 level of competing. B-Tiers usually cover more localized events with only a few of the best CS2 teams being involved.

The question of which teams from Europe, North America, South America, or Oceania will challenge the regional thrones will be answered soon. Indeed, CCT is held in regions other than Europe. The competition for the glory is divided into 36 events in the four zones stated, with the S2 Global Finals (only for the European region, for now) serving as the culmination and carrying on the tradition of Season 1 in 2024.

CCT reorganized tournaments this year, halving the number of regions, or zones. From eight regions in Season 1, we have four now. As for Europe, one team stands out in 2024 with the number of CCT titles: B8. The Ukrainian side emerged victorious in three series. Counting all zones in both Seasons 1 and 2, Fluxo amassed the largest number of titles: seven. The Brazilian organization did so in the South American region, which remained in both seasons.

The CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15 was supposed to be streamed on Twitch’s channel CCT_CS, but at the time of writing the article, due to a breach of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, this channel is unavailable. We’ll have to wait and see what will happen concerning this in the coming days.

Who’ll Win the CS2: CCT Season 2 European Series #15?

Since we don’t have a full picture and don’t know the names of all 24 participating teams, it’s hard to predict which teams will be favorites. Any exact analysis and predictions ought to be made right before the competition begins.

Actually, at this very moment, out of all CCT events, only the CCT Season 2 South American Series #5 is on offers of betting sites for CS2. There, the overall CCT Series record titleholders Fluxo, as well as ODDIK, are the biggest favorites.
