Following a 2023 investigation into darts match-fixing involving him and two other players, Andy Jenkins was given an 11-year suspension and fined over £17,000. A former semifinalist in the World Darts Championship was convicted of both passing on information to bookmakers and rigging 12 MODUS Super Series matches between February 22, 2002, and July 5, 2023.

The 54-year-old, who lost to the eventual winner, Raymond van Barneveld, in the final four of the 2007 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, was also fined by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) for wagering on 88 darts matches on pound betting sites, among others; for that, he was given a 12-month additional suspension, which will be applied in addition to his existing penalties, within that time frame. Additionally, Jenkins, who denied match-fixing allegations, has been sentenced to shell out £17,580 in costs and has until May 6, 2025, to appeal the ruling.

A man who has won 15 career titles won’t be allowed to participate in or be associated with any DRA event until November 15, 2034, due to the ban, which is retroactive to November 2023.

Since reaching the semis in the World Champs in 2007, after heading to the event ranked 12th, he has had difficulty maintaining this form, making four more tries to advance past the second round of the World Championship, the last of which was in 2013. Jenkins advanced to the semi-finals of the 2002 Paddy Power World Grand Prix and the 2004 Budweiser UK Open before his spectacular 2007 exploits.

The Englishman had to enroll in Qualifying School in 2015 after losing his PDC Tour Card at the end of 2014; he was able to regain it for two more years there until losing it once more in 2017. Jenkins participated in a number of PDC Challenge Tour tournaments and made multiple appearances in the MODUS Super Series prior to his 2023 suspension.

In 2023, Jenkins Was Suspended Along with 2 Other Players for Questionable Betting Activities

Players Jack Main, Prakash Jiwa, and Jenkins were suspended by the DRA on November 20, 2023, and the organization also announced that an investigation involving betting during the MODUS Super Series will be carried out.

After winning an Indian Qualifier to go to the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship, Jiwa was scheduled to compete in the event the following month; however, his participation in London was canceled due to the suspension. Out of the three culprits, Jiwa was the first to get sanctioned. He received an eight-year ban in March for manipulating four games and placing bets on other people’s results.

Main was under investigation for a match against Lisa Ashton, who’s thought to have done nothing wrong, in the MODUS Super Series. In the meantime, the DRA banned Main for two years, which was the verdict set in February.
