Google Modifies Advertising Guidelines for Gambling

Publication date:

Google, a multinational corporation and technology giant based in the United States, revealed on its support page for its advertising policy that it will be changing its gambling policy in about two months.

On April 14, 2025, Google is scheduled to make major changes to its advertising policies. Clearer definitions and more stringent rules for gambling-related content on all of its advertising platforms are the goals of these revisions. A more comprehensive framework for operators, affiliates, and platforms involved in gambling advertising is outlined in the new policy of an American multinational corporation and technology company that focuses on online advertising, search engine technology, cloud computing, computer software, and artificial intelligence, among other things. This policy ensures compliance with local regulations.

Crucial Amendments to Google’s Updated Gambling Ads Policy

By making sure that all promotions comply with legal standards and ethical advertising practices, Google’s most recent policy update aims to improve the regulatory environment surrounding gambling marketing. The goal of this action is to stop people from seeing deceptive or illegal advertisements, unlike proper ones from the top bookies, in the heavily regulated gambling industry.

Bookmaker-Expert highlights the following important changes related to the iGaming sector:

  • Any content that directly relates to online gambling or the offering of associated services will now be considered gambling advertising. This also holds true for partner resources and aggregator websites.
  • A comprehensive list of nations where gambling advertising is either strictly forbidden or permitted under certain conditions is included in the amended policy.
  • Advertising for mahjong (a tile-based game that originated in China) that includes financial transactions is currently illegal in the Asia-Pacific area.
  • Social casinos are given special consideration. Their promotion now requires certification, and it’s strictly forbidden to advertise actual wagers on these networks.
  • “Non-casino online games” will now have their own category on Google. All gambling advertising criteria must be fulfilled, and the necessary permissions must be secured if such games are deemed gambling under local legislation.

Ads may be denied or accounts may be blocked if the new regulations aren’t followed.
