Features of the PUBG Global Series 9 2025
According to PUBG Esports, PGS 9, played in the Squads FPP game format, features two stages: Group Stage and Grand Finals. No separate date breakdown for individual stages has been published yet. So far, only the overall timeline is known; specific stage-by-stage dates (e.g., when the Group Stage ends and the Grand Finals begin) are expected to be disclosed in the future.
At this very moment, we don’t know the number of matches per day or information about the elimination phase. What’s known is that the Group Stage will feature three groups of eight teams each.
(SUPER) Global Point Rule (2023 Version) will be used as the match format for both stages. SUPER or Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset is a PUBG Competitive ruleset created by PUBG Corporation, which serves as a Global Ruleset that all PUBG Esports will be governed by, aligned with 2023 tournaments. The rule defines how teams earn points in major PUBG eSports events. SUPER applies across an 18-match format and determines points awarded per match (kill points, placement points, tiebreaker total points…).
Who’ll Win the PUBG Global Series 9 2025?
We’ll stay cautious when it comes to declaring official favorites, as the list of all participants hasn’t been published yet. That said, we can infer some likely frontrunners based on recent performances that might help you when betting on the event on online esport bookmakers:
- Twisted Minds are a standout, having recently won the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS championship at the Esports World Cup 2025.
- Other Global Partner Teams (e.g., Natus Vincere, Four Angry Men, DN Freecs) typically perform strongly at major events, though recent specific results aren’t readily available.
Given how PUBG tournaments pan out, top-performing partner teams and recent champions often emerge as favorites.
Interestingly, on some occasions, regional series like APAC Qualifiers have had significant viewership (e.g., APAC Phase 1 drew ~105,000 peak viewers and over 1.5 million hours watched) that can be compared with Global Series events.
You can watch PGS 9 through several official channels:
- PUBG Esports Platform: The official PUBG Esports website streams events live and sometimes offers multi-view options like map feeds and team-specific perspectives.
- Twitch & YouTube: English-language broadcasts, along with map-only streams, are typically streamed through:
- Twitch – e.g., twitch.tv/pubgesports or twitch.tv/pubg_battlegrounds.
- YouTube – via the official PUBG Esports channel.
- Multi-language coverage: The event is often broadcast in multiple languages and platforms, depending on the region, as seen in past regional qualifiers
Pros and Cons of the (SUPER) Global Point Rule (2023 Version)
PROS | CONS |
Encourages balanced playstyles by rewarding both kills and placement. | No placement points for 9th–16th positions can overly penalize mid-tier teams. |
Simple, transparent scoring system that’s easy for audiences to follow. | Incentivizes risky, kill-heavy strategies over strategic survival. |
Maintains competitive tension with close leaderboards until the end. | Tiebreakers rely heavily on the final match, potentially disadvantaging early strong performers. |
Fair multi-tiered tiebreakers that reward both consistency and clutch performance. | Mid-field survival improvements offer no tangible scoring benefit. |
