The PGL Wallachia series has been established to become the Dota 2 Major at one point. The Wallachias, including Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3, are testaments to the commitment and skill of the participating teams and will surely have a lasting impact on the eSports landscape, regardless of Valve’s (the game developer and primary patron of Dota 2 events) decision-making process in regard to that.

PGL, the organizer of Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3, is a Romanian studio, video production firm, and event organizer located in the country’s capital of Bucharest, the site of all the Wallachias (Wallachia, or the Romanian Land, is the historical and actual area of present-day Romania). PGL is most renowned for hosting Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 eSports competitions. Regarding Dota 2, Valve has given the company a lot of credit for successfully running multiple tournaments since 2016.

Features of the Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3

The Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3 will have two stages: Group Stage and Playoffs, all Bo3 except for the Grand Final, which will be Bo5.

Even though the dates for the two stages alone are yet unknown, we know that the Group Stage, just like in Seasons 1 and 2 will be Swiss format, with top eight teams advancing to the Playoffs. The remaining teams are eliminated. Playoffs are double-elimination brackets.

Who’ll Win the Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3?

The community feels confused by PARIVISION’s absence, a rising force in the scene. The Serbian squad, originally from Russia (ranked # 2 in the world), which had just won at ESL One Bangkok 2024, didn’t receive an invitation to the competition or take part in the qualifying rounds. Given that the world’s # 2 BetBoom Team are also out of the tournament in Bucharest, it leaves other top-ranked sides at Valve rankings as the biggest favorites to win the Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3. Wildcard might be the “dark horse”. The Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3 is a momentous milestone for the U.S. team, as the roster that previously competed under the Apex Genesis banner has qualified for a Tier-1 event for the first time under the auspices of an organization co-owned by well-known entrepreneur Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa.

There are currently no Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 3 odds available, but don’t worry—that’s only because the tournament is almost a month away. Since Dota 2 betting has been steadily increasing and drawing more bettors every year, many eSports betting services, such as Neteller eSports bookmakers, will launch markets for betting on the tournament in the Romanian capital.

Even if Wallachia has the potential to become a major event on the eSports calendar, the first two seasons of the 2024 events experienced audience levels that weren’t as satisfactory as anticipated. Indeed, the first season’s fierce matches and high audience interaction enthralled fans around. PGL Wallachia Season 2 had less views than Season 1 despite HEROIC’s thrilling and historic victory (Team Spirit won Season 1). Just 320,061 people watched the Grand Final, which is 166,499 less people than saw PGL Wallachia Season 1.

PGL will be taking over the production from the official tournament start, unlike qualifications. It’s expected that things will be the same as last year when it comes to streams: primary stream with English commentary will be available on PGL’s channels on Twitch and YouTube, while streams on some other languages will be available on Dota 2 streaming platforms for that specific nation.
