CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025

After the Counter-Strike 2 developer Valve decided to prohibit tournament organizers from selling tournament spots to teams as of January 1st of this year, the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 is the second PGL-organized competition. PGL, a Bucharest-based Romanian eSports production firm that organizes Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 competitions, seized the chance to host Tier-1 and non-major Counter-Strike 2 competitions at that point. The CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 is one such tournament, and it will last for a full week until mid-April.

Most of the invited teams are among the top 12 teams from the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) in March. Spirit, Vitality, NAVI, and MOUZ, which are placed first, fourth, sixth, and eighth, respectively, are notable absences. Remarkably, MOUZ triumphed at the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, the PGL’s most recent Counter-Strike 2 competition, but won’t be present in Bucharest. The reason for their absence at this time is unknown. Ongoing online qualifications in Asia, the Americas, and Europe will decide the remaining four teams at the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025.

Features of the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025

Following qualifications which, by the way, have been postponed and then restarted due to PGL’s mistake in the invitation process (prior to the 12 main event VRS seats being filled, the Romanian tournament organizer handed out invites for qualifications), the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 will start with the 16-team Swiss System Format, wherein all matches will be Bo3.

The top 8 teams proceed to the single-elimination Playoffs. There, until the Grand Final, the teams will also battle in the Bo3 series. The title match will be Bo5.

Who’ll Win the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025?

Obviously, the biggest favorites to win the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 are the teams at the very top of the VRS, not counting those who decided to skip the tournament, mostly G2, The MongolZ, and FaZe.

If you’re up to this, you can always choose the PGL’s official partner, 1xBet, or any other of the best CS2 betting sites to try your luck at betting on the winner of the CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 or individual matches.

The most successful Counter-Strike competitions in history were organized by PGL. By hosting the two competitions with the highest peak viewership ever recorded—the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and the PGL Major Antwerp 2022—PGL made history in the eSports industry.

The CS2: PGL Bucharest 2025 will be streamed live on PGL’s Twitch. Live commentary and analysis will be available in English during match streaming.
