Recomended bookmakers
It became evident that the CS2: PGL Astana 2025 would be the third event on the schedule after PGL, a Romanian eSports production company with headquarters in Bucharest that hosts Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 competitions, revealed its updates for the 2025–26 competitive season last December, getting the opportunity to host Tier-1 and non-major Counter-Strike 2 competitions. After the game’s developer, Valve, decided to forbid tournament organizers from selling tournament spots to teams, PGL, which was previously best known for organizing developer-sponsored competitions like the Dota 2 The International series and Counter-Strike 2 Majors, seized the chance to take charge of CS2 events with an innovative playoff structure and rapid prize payouts.

For players and spectators alike, the Barys Arena in Astana will offer a top-notch experience. Following an online Group Stage, the Playoffs will be held in front of a live audience in the Kazakh capital, which has quickly developed into a major hub for international eSports. All 16 teams will participate in Astana, further solidifying the city’s standing as an eye-opening site for elite CS2 competitions.
Which Teams Will Take Part in the CS2: PGL Astana 2025?
Using the most significant rankings in Counter-Strike 2, the Valve Regional Standings, or VRS, 12 teams were invited to compete. The goal was to have as many top-ranked sides as possible attend Astana, but similar to the first two PGL-organized tournaments, in Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest in particular, many well-known organizations won’t be present here as well, including Vitality (the VRS #1), the Cluj-Napoca tournament winners, MOUZ, Eternal Fire, Falcons, FaZe, and others.
