Counting all Valve Major Championships (or simply Majors) from 2013 onwards, which is the time when Valve, the game developer, started to fund these events, the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin Major is the 23rd edition of the most prestigious tournament format in Counter-Strike eSports.

As the name of the Austin-based event says, it’s organized by BLAST. After Valve decided to open up the Counter-Strike eSports scene by doing away with partner leagues and using Valve rankings for tournament invitations, this Danish eSports media production firm started to concentrate solely on BLAST events.

Where and When Will the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Be Held?

The date of the CS2: BLAST.tv Major 2025 is set for June 2–22. After 32 teams engage in several rounds of preliminary competition at the JW Marriott on June 2–15, 16 teams will move on to the main stage, which will take place at the Moody Center on June 19–22. This means that the entire tournament is offline, i.e., in front of a live audience.

The prize pool for the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 will be US$1,250,000, the same as all Valve Major Championships in the recent past (initially, it was US$250,000 and then US$1,000,000). The winning team will get quite a large portion of the overall tournament money: US$500,000. Even though as many as 32 teams participate in the tournament, they will earn something, including the penultimate and last-placed sides, who’ll get US$5,000 each.

Which Teams Will Take Part in the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025?

The top 16 teams based on the previous Major result and Valve’s Regional Standings (VRS) are invited directly to the next Major, in this case, the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin 2025, after the Major was expanded to 32 teams, starting exactly with BLAST.tv Austin 2025. The top eight teams begin from Stage 3, and the next eight start from Stage 2.

The world’s largest eSports competitions are the Counter-Strike Majors, which draw hordes of bettors eager to try their luck at CS2 bet sites.

Even though some events in earlier iterations of Counter-Strike were also regarded as Majors, Valve didn’t support them. The inaugural Valve Major Championship took place at the DreamHack Winter in 2013. The Valve-supported Majors are undergoing their fourth format modification at the moment. As one of the innovations, Valve revealed an extra opening stage for the competition, beginning with the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin 2025. Due to this modification, there are now 32 teams competing in the Major Championships instead of just 24.

Astralis is the standout team at Majors, winning four. They, however, failed to qualify for the Austin-based event.

An estimated 220 million people are anticipated to watch the first Major to take place in the United States in seven years. Counter-Strike Majors are a unique breed. They’ve witnessed peaks of 1.70 million viewers across events and a peak audience of 2.74 million in their biggest games, marking a time when the game’s most ardent supporters come together to celebrate it. Viewers in 150 countries and 28 languages will be able to watch the CS2: BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
