Next year’s BLAST Bounty Spring is played for the first time because the tournament organizer BLAST is making major changes to the way its events are organized in the wake of Valve’s decision to open up the Counter-Strike eSports scene by doing away with partner leagues and using the Valve World Team Rankings for tournament invitations. The BLAST Premier tournament circuit, which replaced the BLAST Pro Series in 2020, will consist of three events – BLAST Bounty, BLAST Open, and BLAST Rivals – each with two tournaments and each with its own format and distinctive features.

The CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 is the tournament with which the BLAST Premier will start next year. It will consist of two phases: the Closed Qualifier and Playoffs. It will begin with 32 teams before the top 8 move on to the second phase. Because BLAST Bounty (just like Open and Rivals) will be played twice across the year (Spring and Fall Seasons), CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 will be followed by CS2: BLAST Bounty Fall 2025 in August.

Where and When Will the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 Be Held?

The CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, counting both Closed Qualifier and Playoffs, will start on January 12 and end on January 26. The tournament is a combination of online and LAN. In week one, the first two rounds, i.e. the Closed Qualifier, will be played online from servers in Europe. The second week, the Playoffs, will have a LAN setting in Copenhagen, Denmark’s BLAST Studios.

The prize pool of this special event is $500,000, and it’s a “bounty” prize pool. The teams will be on their toes to make sure they take home their whole prize pool, which will be distributed depending on seeding and individual match performances. The teams’ seeding will determine the bounty; the teams with the highest seeds will be the most targeted and have more to lose when the games start. In contrast to other eSports competitions, the prize pool distribution is dynamic. A bounty determined by seeding will be placed on their heads when they enter the contest. In reality, by claiming 50% of the bounty gained from a match, teams may guarantee the amount of money they take home at the conclusion of the competition. The remaining 50% of that bounty will be added to the winning team’s bounty and used to increase the stakes in the next game.

FYI: “Bounty” is a feature that’s usually used in poker tournaments, smaller though, and it rewards players for eliminating a particular player or rewards every player for eliminating every player, depending on the tournament concept and rules.

Through two systems into 2025, BLAST will compensate teams for both Bounty Spring and Bounty Fall placements. These systems are Frequent Flyers Program, which is a minimum guarantee with a revenue kicker, and a fixed participation fee paid to teams for competing and fulfilling promotional duties. Although it’s unknown for the Spring Season alone, the organizer knows the total fee amounts that teams will get for the Spring and Fall Seasons in total depending on their tournament rankings. A team can get closer to earning a Frequent Flyers Program token by taking part in the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025. A team needs to take part in four tournaments to earn one token, five tournaments to earn two tokens, and all six tournaments to earn six tokens. If a team reaches the second week of BLAST Bounty, they’ll receive one additional token. By winning BLAST Bounty, a team will receive two additional tokens.

The CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, as well as other BLAST Premier tournaments in 2025, will have the difficult task of outnumbering viewership of BLAST-organized tournaments for the Counter-Strike 2 predecessor, CS: GO. The last-ever CS: GO Major, the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, was an incredible event with lasting effects: 58,891,766 hours of viewing, 50,000 fans across four days of top-tier CS, and a peak audience of 1,528,724.

Which Teams Will Take Part in the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025?

In the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, four BLAST-selected wildcard teams will join the 28 top-ranked teams in the Valve World Team Rankings. To guarantee that the event is representative of all CS regions, all regions will be represented at the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025. If no teams from North America, South America, Europe, or Asia qualify, direct invites will be sent to the teams from each top-ranked region.

The teams with the highest seeds will be the most targeted and have more to lose when the games start. This is where the fun begins. The bottom-seeded teams will have the opportunity to choose which of the top-seeded teams they want to face in the first round of the Closed Qualifier. In the subsequent rounds, the seeding will be reversed, and the teams with the lowest seeding will once again have the chance to choose their opponents.

The first two rounds, the Round of 32 and the Round of 16 of the Closed Qualifier will be played online on European servers from January 14-19. The teams will compete in a Bo3 single-elimination format. On January 23-26, the eight quarterfinalists will perform in a LAN environment from BLAST Studios in the Danish capital of Copenhagen during the second week. Before a Bo5 Grand Final determines the winner of the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, these teams will compete in single-elimination Bo3 Quarterfinals and Semifinals.

Features of the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025

Two Groups, two Showdowns, two Finals, and a World Final that marks the end of the Counter-Strike year have been the seven events that made up BLAST’s tournament schedule over the previous few years. As previously stated, BLAST will stage six tournaments in 2025, including the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, but those six events will present teams in the BLAST Premier circuit with significantly more opportunities than in the past.

Thirty-two teams will battle to raise the bounty on their heads in order to win a bigger portion of the prize pool in the incredibly inventive game show style, which CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 is planned to be.

This tournament will be streamed live on YouTube (youtube.com/BLASTPremier/live) and Twitch (twitch.tv/BLASTPremier). English-language live commentary and analysis will be provided during the matches.

Who’ll Win the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025?

Given that the 28 top-ranked teams in the Valve World Team Rankings will take part, in addition to four wildcards, the favorites are easy to identify. But we’ll have to wait and see how the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 will end to give more specific predictions because potential favorites will come in different forms to Copenhagen. What’s sure is that any of, say, the top 8 from the Valve rankings will be big candidates for the title at the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, which includes multiple BLAST-organized tournament winners: G2 Esports, Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, etc.

Of course, it’s too early to expect odds on CS2 bookmakers for the CS2: BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 betting markets. They’ll probably be ready by the end of the year or the beginning of 2025 at the latest.
