Match info
We resume our analysis of the LCK Summer 2024 regular season. Things are slowly but steadily advancing toward the playoffs of the Korean League of Legends, so each game gets increasingly significant as we go along. But even before the postseason, the results of certain games still appear to be known upfront. The match between BRION and T1 is one of them. Let’s try to determine whether the former can beat a team as elite as T1 and whether it can even pose a real danger or not when a duel on the last day of Week 8 launches on Sunday, August 11, at 4:30 p.m. local time.

The current form of OKSavingsBank BRION In this game, BRION (OKSavingsBank BRION due to sponsorship reasons), will take the outsider position awarded to them by Epay bookmakers. BRION have spent a considerable amount of time competing in League of Legends, but they haven’t been able to produce impressive results. As for LCK in particular, they’ve been performing in this league since 2021. In comparison to the two seasons prior, BRION made some improvement last season; they placed eighth in both the LCK Spring 2023 and LCK Summer 2023. Despite only joining the squad in June of last year, Kim “Karis” Hong-jo may be regarded as a “veteran” player, which says a lot about the roster adjustments BRION have made. They finished LCK Spring 2024 in line with their usual “repertoire”; with three victories and 15 defeats, they were ranked 10th in the final standings. At this LCK Summer, not much is different. They are on the bottom line of the standings: 2-13. The current form of T1 T1 placed second in three straight events in 2022: MSI, LCK Summer, and Worlds, after winning in LCK Spring 2022. Such a “top-2 curse” continued throughout the 2023 campaign. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and teammates placed second in LCK Spring 2023 and third at MSI 2023. For T1, LCK Summer 2023 posed a significant obstacle. Though it was difficult, they managed to qualify for the playoffs. “Faker”, the main man, was having issues. The renowned mid-laner sustained a hand injury, which clearly had an impact on T1’s overall playing conditions. However, “Faker” rejoined the team in time for the postseason, in which his side reached the grand final. They lost it crushingly, 0-3, to their archenemy Gen.G. At Worlds 2023, T1 accomplished a feat never before accomplished by any team in the history of eSports. T1 advanced to the most significant League of Legends tournament’s grand finals for the sixth time and went on to win it for the fourth time—a record in both competitive League of Legends and eSports overall. T1 had some difficulties during the LCK Spring 2024 regular season, placing third with a 15-3 record. Surprisingly, after showing no proper resistance in the game against Hanwha Life Esports (0-3), T1 got off to a bad start in the championship playoffs. With two wins in the lower playoffs, T1 placed in the top two and became the second, also the last, Korean team at MSI 2024. T1 easily made it to the bracket stage of the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 Play-In, where they had a 3-2. T1 temporarily ended their run at LCK Summer 2024, where they had a 5-1 record, to compete at the Esports World Cup 2024. So they visited Riyadh in between regional competition matches, where they won the inaugural event and took home a $500,000 reward, defeating TOP Esports in the championship match. Now, they are 8-6 in the summer split, placing them fourth in the standings. Head-to-head In 2024, the teams have faced off three times. T1 prevailed in all of these games.

The International spark isn’t what we’re expecting from this game. Given their not-so-good performance this season in the summer split, T1 will likely blow off some steam in the direction of a rival compared to which they are a couple of classes stronger, and will have no trouble winning 2-0. Due to the shortness of odds on this outcome, pump up the stakes and opt for the wager that includes the handicap on kills on the first map on T1. Tip: 1st Map: Kills Handicap – Handicap 2 (-9.5), with odds of 1.85 at Bet it All.
