KT Rolster vs. FearX Prediction on January 18, 2024

Match info

The group stage matches of LCK Spring 2024 (LoL Champions Korea Spring 2024) have intensified the competition in the major League of Legends (LoL). The top 10 teams’ matches are on the schedule as Korea, the strongest region with its premium league, makes a comeback.

KT Rolster and FearX are two of the competitors. While the latter is a relatively fresh face to LCK, the former created a lot of commotion the previous season and revealed a new squad for Season 14.

We’re attempting to determine which side will be more formidable and secure their first victory of the new campaign, and which one will have to begin the LCK regular season with a defeat. Day 2 match is set for Thursday, January 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Seoul’s LoL Park.

Meeting statistics

In addition to competing for money prizes, all of the LCK Spring 2024 competitors are vying for two berths at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, which is scheduled to take place in May in China.

The current form of KT Rolster

KT Rolster is the first team that we analyze. They are the favorites to win this game, with odds slightly over 1.00 on LoL bettingsites.

We can freely say that KT Rolster have failed it in the previous season. They placed fifth at LCK Summer and seventh at LCK Spring in 2022 before that. Making it to the Top 4 Regional Finals was a major accomplishment, if that can be called that, but it was in vain because they were still unable to advance to Worlds 2022.

It was better in the new season. KT Rolster ascended to the top 3 in the LCK Spring 2023. The only side to defeat them was Gen.G, who prevailed over Gwak “Bdd“ Bo-seong and teammates 3-1.

It was evident that KT Rolster hoped to at least repeat the Spring’s outcome at LCK Summer 2023. They defeated almost every opponent they faced in the group stage, finishing with a 17-1 record. T1 was the opponent that KT Rolster picked for the first round of the playoffs. After excelling in the group stage, KT Rolster were full of confidence, however, they faltered against T1 with a score of 2-3. KT Rolster faced Hanwha Life Esports in the lower bracket after their rivals lost to Gen.G in a lackluster match. Following in Gen.G’s footsteps, KT triumphed 3-0. Then KT Rolster confronted T1 once more. This time, they had a 2-0 lead, but T1 were able to reverse sweep and win the series 3-2. Yes, it was a much closer match this time.

It was through the Korean regional finals that KT Rolster advanced to the Worlds 2023. They faced off against Hanwha Life Esports in a single series. KT Rolster easily won the match and joined T1 and Gen.G in the year’s main event and home tournament. In their opening World Championship match, KT Rolster were defeated by Bilibili Gaming. They then defeated Dplus, a rival regional team, and Weibo Gaming. LNG Esports defeated KT Rolster 2-1 in the next match. Playing Dplus in the playoffs, KT Rolster easily defeated them 2-0. However, they failed to go beyond the first round of the playoffs: they faced JD Gaming and were defeated 1-3, ending their run in the top 8 at the Worlds.

The current form of FearX

We go on to the match analysis with the form of FearX. With odds to win of about 5.00, they are playing as the underdogs in this encounter. FearX is a relatively new name in LCK. They rose to prominence in the competitive scene in 2018, but our analysis of FearX will be based on the merger with Liiv Sandbox, which paved the way for LCK 2024.

FearX began competing on the LCK stage in 2019 after being active in the competitive circuit since 2018. They didn’t qualify for Worlds 2019 after finishing in the Top 5 at LCK Spring 2019, Top 4 at LCK Summer 2019, and Top 3 at Regional Finals 2019.

Playing at TIR events, a series of poor performances ensued. In 2021, things began to improve when FearX, who was still under the name of Liiv Sandbox, finished in the top four at the regional finals.

In 2022, when Liiv Sandbox were just one win away from Worlds, things obviously weren’t going too horribly. They placed third at both the LCK Summer 2022 and the Regional Finals. They lost to DRX 2-3 in the latter tournament, which prevented them from qualifying for Worlds. And just so you know, DRX took home the Worlds title that year. In contrast, FearX had a disastrous season in 2023 following a respectable performance in the previous one. They placed in the top 6 in LCK Spring 2023 and the top 7 in LCK Summer 2023.

During the transfer window that was live in November 2023, FearX made some important roster changes. Kim “Willer“ Jeong-hyeon, the jungler, was the sole member of the old lineup that stayed after Song “Clear“ Hyeon-min, Lee “Clozer“ Ju-hyeon, Park “Hena“ Jeung-hwan, and Lee “Execute“ Jeong-hoon joined the team.

Match analytics

In summary: Map Handicap of +1.5 at FearX with odds of 2.05 on Stake.
