The current form of Nongshim RedForce

If you look at the odds on the sites of esport bookmakers, you’ll see that Nongshim RedForce is the clear underdog in this match. It’s a team devoid of prominent players and a strong mid-table contender in Korea, which is regarded as the greatest LoL region. Jung “Jiwoo” Ji-woo is the only member of Nongshim RedForce from the previous season. Four new players make up the remaining roster.

Nongshim RedForce have been in the LCK arena since 2021. Accidentally, this year turned out to be the best in the short history of this eSports organization. They placed third at the Regional Finals, although not high enough to advance to the Worlds. Before that, they were sixth at the LCK Spring 2021 and fourth at the LCK Summer 2021. Nongshim RedForce placed in the top 8 at LCK Spring 2024.

Prior to their matchup with Dplus KIA in this summer split, Nongshim RedForce were 3-11 in the standings, ranking eighth out of 10 teams.

The current form of Dplus KIA

Only two seasons ago, Dplus KIA (KIA was added to the name due to sponsorship reasons) was DAMWON Gaming, the name under which it won the World Championship in 2020. They advanced to the Worlds 2022 after winning the LCK Regional Finals 2022; however, their journey ended there with a playoff loss in an exciting encounter against Gen.G. Dplus assembled a new squad after rebranding. An attempt was made to form a super-team; however, such attempts have rarely been fruitful in the LCK. At Dplus’s first competition following the rebranding, it turned out that the reigning world champion, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, didn’t do much to help the team. They placed in the top 5 at LCK Spring 2023. Dplus lost in the first round of the LCK Summer 2023 playoffs, ending their run early in the competition. They qualified for the Worlds 2023 by placing second in the regional championships of South Korea; however, they were unable to advance to the play-offs.

Dplus had a respectable performance at LCK Spring 2024 (the top 4), following a somewhat disappointing Worlds 2024. With nine wins and five losses at the LCK Summer 2024, they should be pleased with their performance. Such a record is enough for third place in the charts.

Head-to-head

Dplus haven’t lost to the Nongshim RedForce since March 2022. Moreover, they have also not surrendered a single map to them.

In this match, we anticipate Dplus to win with confidence. Based on the past head-to-head record, Nongshim RedForce are incomparable in quality to Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon & Co., and the two teams’ standings positions only serve to reinforce the belief that the latter will be defeated in every aspect of a game and that Dplus will start the match. i.e., first map, in a furious manner.
